Blog #3 Option 1

I plan to attend college after high school and I plan to major in Psychology. The following are three jobs that people with major can have a career in.


Forensic Psychologist
- Average Pay: between 60,000-70,000 annually before taxes
-  Highest Salaries: California, New York, Maine
- Lowest Salaries: Mississippi, South Carolina, West Virginia
- Education: Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical Psychology
- Personalities: self confidence, objectivity, and a critical thinker

Criminal investigator
- Average Pay: 54,860 before taxes
- Highest Salaries: Alaska, New Jersey, California
- Lowest Salaries: Tennessee, North Dakota, Louisiana
- Education: Masters Degree, one year of graduate level education beyond bachelors degree
- Personalities: Open-Mindedness, Dependability, Self Discipline

Psychiatrist
- Average Pay: 204,642 before taxes
- Highest Salaries: California, Rhode Island, New Jersey
- Lowest Salaries: New York, Illinois, South Dakota
- Education: Bachelors degree, Medical School, Residency
- Personalities: being aware, communication

  1. I really like how organized your blog is, and I think that a major in psychology is awesome! Also, I had no idea that psychology was something that played such a big role in criminal investigations or that you could go down that career path with a psychology major!   2. It is really interesting to see that a psychology major can go into crime fields in addition to the expected clinical positions. I'm sure you will have a wide variety of options and you may be able to narrow down what kind of psychology later to better prepare yourself for a more specific field.

  4. I have the same major in mind and criminal investigation is actually something that I am interested in as well. If Psychiatrist is interesting to you, I am sure that there are a lot of things that you can do form there.
